The Junior College National Championships (JCNC) bridged women's wrestling at two-year colleges before the NJCAA took over sponsorship. It ran for two years, 2021 and 2022, giving NJCAA-only programs a national postseason before they gained emerging sport status. The 2022 event was hosted by Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, with programs like Indian Hills, Big Bend, Southwestern Oregon and Grays Harbor competing. Indian Hills won both JCNC titles, a run that carried directly into its early NJCAA-sponsored dominance. When the NJCAA launched its own sponsored invitational in 2023, the JCNC folded -- having served as the proving ground for junior college women's wrestling's move to full NJCAA sanctioning.
