About WCN Women's Wrestling
The Women's College Nationals (WCN) were the first true national championship for women's wrestling, predating any governing body. The inaugural event was held in 2004 at Missouri Valley College, contested in women's freestyle from the start, then moved to Cumberlands in 2006 and Pacific in 2007. Menlo's Sara Fulp-Allen became the sport's first three-time national champion during this era, and growing coach interest -- including from new programs like Oklahoma City University -- pushed the loose coalition toward something more formal.
